Roo-ting for 2018!
This month I was honoured to be interviewed by my alma mater, the University of Sydney, for their Illuminate Newsletter in an article titled "How to Survive Hollywood: 23 Tips from Writer & Director, Emily Dean".
I didn't name this article. Honestly, I have NO IDEA how to survive Hollywood! What I do know is the old saying, "Be nice to everyone on your way up. You'll meet them on the way back down."
Our short film Andromeda wrapped shooting last week and we're in full edit mode for festival submission. A big big thank you to my wonderful cast and crew for your hard work! The film is going to be beautiful!
Thank you Hotel Artemis! I had a blast!
It's been a while, but I'm excited to now be staying at Hotel Artemis, Written and Directed by Drew Pearce, starring Jodie Foster and Dave Bautista. This is a really special project and I'm honored to be a part of it!
After LEGO Batman's awesome opening weekend to +$55M it's been party time at Bricksburg. The best part about making this film has been sharing it with my friends and family and my friends-family. Here's a Bricksburg crew photo taken by Lin Pictures to celebrate our Fresh Rating at Rotten Tomatoes!
Looking forward to another great weekend with LEGO Batman in the lead for President's Day Weekend!
The LEGO Batman Movie premiered this weekend and the reviews are coming in! This from Variety:
Your average Pixar comedy thumbs its nose at a great many things, but “The Lego Batman Movie” is a helter-skelter lampoon in the daftly exhilarating spirit of Mad magazine and the “Naked Gun” films. It’s that quick and cutthroat clever and self-knowing. There’s every chance it will soar at the box office, and make no mistake: It deserves to.

Had a blast at this year's Sundance! Luckily avoided the snowstorms, saw so many great films and met some cool people!
Over the holiday break I was contacted by Estelle Tang to comment on Women and Diversity in the Animation Industry, specifically THR's Feature Animation Roundtable for 2016.
I was very honoured to be interviewed alongside Brenda Chapman, Niki Yang, and Maija Burnett for this important conversation. Special thanks to Estelle Tang and the ELLE Team! You can read the full article here:
Check it out!
So excited to see our designs being made into real Lego sets. Crazy to think it was two years ago we were coming up with these ideas.
